  1. Reset DTDBs

  4. This program will reset the Desktop Databases (DTDBs) on each mounted 
  5. volume. It is somewhat like the Desktop Reset™ extension except that it 
  6. is an application. Before running the program, however, you should eject 
  7. all floppy disks and read-only disks (like CD-ROMs), and quit all running 
  8. applications.

  10. After running Reset DTDBs, the computer will restart.
  11. Then the Finder will rebuild all the desktop files from scratch. The 
  12. process is then finished; the databases have been totally rebuilt.

  17. I haven't tested this program very extensively, but I have a total of 499 
  18. (!) items inside my System Folder, and it works on my machine... :) Even 
  19. so, no warranties are provided. If you are having trouble with it, I will 
  20. take questions via email at one of my addresses at the end of this 
  21. document.

  23. One known problem is with At Ease. At Ease will not rebuild your desktop 
  24. files at all, even if you hold Option+Command. Therefore, you need to
  25. disable At Ease before you run Reset DTDBs. You can enable it again 
  26. afterwards.

  32. in the archive along with the program.
